The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued 22 closure orders for commercial establishments in Hawally that breached regulations, referring them to the Commercial Prosecution. Faisal Al-Ansari, the director of the ministry’s Commercial Control Department, explained that these decisions were based on recommendations from the inspection committee. Among the establishments closed were two advertising companies.
One of the companies had been promoting health insurance policies with specified amounts linked to each health insurance card. However, consumers were taken aback when they visited medical clinics to find that the cards were either suspended or did not hold the agreed-upon amounts. Many consumers also complained about not receiving their cards on the specified date despite having paid in advance.
The closures included 13 stores selling counterfeit goods such as gifts, luxury items, shoes, watches, bags, and accessories. Additionally, seven domestic labor recruitment offices were shut down for violating ministerial regulations that prohibit cash transactions. These offices were found to have accepted cash payments instead of utilizing electronic payment devices like Knet.
