21, Oct, 2025: The Ministry of Interior confirmed the arrest of three employees of the Passports Department this week on charges of tampering with the Ministry’s computer system for documenting entry and exit movements.
The criminal investigation began after authorities received information that two employees at the Nuwaiseeb and Salmi border crossings were entering false data into the system. Specifically, they recorded fake entry and exit stamps for two female citizens, making it appear they were in the country when they had actually left months earlier. This manipulation allowed the women to unlawfully collect financial assistance. A subsequent investigation confirmed the fraud through data cross-checks with Saudi authorities. Following their arrest and confession, the first two suspects implicated a third employee. The Ministry has referred all three to the competent legal authorities, stressing that it will not tolerate any abuse of official power.
