Munira Al-Amir, Head of the Technical Committee in the Municipal Council, stated that new amendments proposed by the executive body to building regulations in agricultural and livestock areas mark a significant step forward in addressing challenges within these crucial sectors. In a press statement issued after the 14th meeting of the Technical Committee during the third legislative term on Tuesday, Al-Amir outlined the changes.
The amendments redefine the areas covered by the regulations, clarifying distinctions between agricultural zones and other designated areas. A notable change includes redesigning family rest houses, which will now be restricted to a single floor instead of two. Additionally, the permitted area and building height have been increased to optimize space usage.
The amendments also address the need for expanded storage facilities in agricultural zones, including spaces for seeds, agricultural products, and equipment, tackling critical challenges faced by business owners in these sectors. Al-Amir praised the decision to increase the land allocation for establishing nature reserves, calling it a positive step toward supporting environmental efforts and encouraging environmental activities in Kuwait.
Furthermore, the regulation expands areas designated for workers’ housing and related facilities in agricultural and livestock zones. This aims to improve living conditions for workers, enhancing efficiency in these sectors. Another key update is the clear distinction between livestock and horse breeding classifications, providing better organization compared to the previous regulations.
