Road maintenance projects in the country play a crucial role in fostering economic and social development, as well as enhancing the quality of life, said Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan, Minister of Public Works, during the inauguration of the newly opened tunnel on the Fifth Ring Road heading towards Jahra from the Salmiya side.
The Ministry is actively continuing its road maintenance initiatives across all regions, ensuring full adherence to quality standards and international specifications, the Minister emphasized.
This new tunnel on the Fifth Ring Road is part of the South Surra Development Project. The second section of the tunnel, leading towards Salmiya, will be completed in the coming weeks. Additionally, last week, the Khaitan Bridge and the road connecting Khaitan to the Airport Road were opened.
The Ministry has also begun maintenance work on all major highways. The Minister urged citizens and residents to adhere to the Ministry’s guidelines regarding road closures and openings to facilitate smooth traffic flow and prevent congestion.
