23, Oct, 2025: The Ministry of Interior (MOI) has escalated its traffic enforcement, recording nearly 4,500 offenses for illegal overtaking and deliberate obstruction in just seven days. This surge in tickets, including 823 in a single day, was achieved through coordinated patrols and advanced camera monitoring.
The crackdown is tied to a new General Traffic Department (GTD) circular, which mandates the impoundment of vehicles for a non-negotiable 60 days for any of the four serious violations: illegal overtaking, deliberate obstruction, intentional road disruption, or parking in no-parking zones. The GTD has emphasized zero tolerance, banning early release for impounded vehicles. Furthermore, expatriate drivers face immediate deportation for repeat serious offenses, and all violators may be detained for 48 hours and face court referral, regardless of the fine. The campaign aims to protect lives and restore discipline on Kuwait’s roads
