Kuwaiti Officials and Owner Detained in Massive Visa Trafficking Case
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 1: A detention renewal judge has ordered the continued custody of a Kuwaiti company owner, several expatriates (including Egyptian and Palestinian nationals), and two key employees from the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM).
The group is implicated in one of the country’s largest residency trafficking schemes. The detained PAM employees include a supervisor and an acting manager.
The Fraudulent Scheme
The Public Prosecution alleges the suspects issued 382 fake worker licenses using the names of 28 non-existent companies. Each worker was reportedly charged between KD 800 and KD 1,000 for the fraudulent permits.
Further investigation revealed that some PAM employees accepted bribes ranging from KD 200 to KD 250 per worker to facilitate the rapid issuance of these illicit licenses.
