Kuwait to Repatriate Sri Lankan Prisoners to Serve Remainder of Their Sentences

The General Administration of Correctional Institutions has announced plans to transfer 32 Sri Lankan prisoners currently serving sentences in Kuwait’s Central Prison. These individuals, who were convicted of various offenses, will be repatriated to Sri Lanka to complete the remainder of their sentences under a prisoner exchange agreement between Kuwait and Sri Lanka. According to reliable security sources, the transfer will be coordinated with the Kuwaiti Air Force. The prisoners will be flown on a military aircraft, accompanied by a security detail, and handed over to Sri Lankan authorities upon arrival. This move is part of ongoing efforts to alleviate overcrowding in the Central Prison and ensure the effective administration of justice.
