KUWAIT CITY, Jan 13: Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, Abdul Latif Al-Mishari, has ratified the Municipal Council’s resolution to phase out private schools in residential areas by the conclusion of the 2027/2028 academic year. In his approval, Al-Mishari introduced a new requirement: the handover of designated private school sites is now contingent upon receiving clearance from the General Traffic Department and a verified traffic study.
Additionally, the Minister exercised his veto against three council proposals. He rejected the addition of “car wash and detailing” services in Abu Futaira, Qurain Markets, and Ardiya Industrial. He also declined a proposal to license sidewalks for refreshment coolers, citing a need for further study. Finally, he opposed the creation of a temporary entrance to Rumaithiya from the Fahaheel Road service lane.
