Kuwait: In a coordinated effort to protect public safety, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, recently executed a series of high-profile raids. These operations resulted in the seizure of over 1,800 counterfeit items, the closure of unauthorized automotive workshops, and the discovery of a major medical supply fraud scheme.
Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of Commercial Control and Consumer Protection, confirmed that the ministry is taking a “zero-tolerance” approach to market violations. Key actions included:
Medical Fraud Halted: Authorities uncovered an unlicensed warehouse storing expired medical supplies. The team seized equipment used to forge expiration dates, preventing hazardous materials from reaching private clinics.
Trademark Enforcement: 1,828 counterfeit luxury items were seized from two shops in Salmiya.
Auto Workshop Closures: Several garages were shut down for performing unauthorized repairs on accident-damaged vehicles, a practice Al-Ansari warned could be used to hide criminal activity.
