26.9 percent of expatriates are domestic workers

According to a statistical report released on Sunday, 26.9 percent of expatriates in the country are domestic workers. The report indicates that the number of domestic workers in Kuwait increased by 1.1 percent by the end of the first quarter of 2024, reaching a total of 789,000.

Of these, 423,000 are female domestic workers and 366,000 are male. Indians make up 44.7 percent of all expatriate domestic workers in the country (approximately 352,000), followed by Filipinos at 22.5 percent (177,500). Domestic workers from India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh together account for 93.3 percent of all domestic workers in Kuwait.

At the end of the first quarter, Filipinas led the list of female domestic helpers with 175,000, while Indians were the largest group of male domestic workers with 248,000.
