Advance railway line between Kuwait an Saudi

Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan, Kuwait’s Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, is set to visit Saudi Arabia to discuss the next phase of the railway linkage project. This visit comes after the recent approval of the project’s financial, economic, technical, and social feasibility study.

According to a government source, the project will consist of two separate lines: one for passenger transport and the other for freight. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with an anticipated completion time of four years. The railway will be designed for high-speed travel for both passengers and cargo.

The source highlighted the strong commitment from both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to fast-track the project, which aims to improve sustainable railway connectivity, enhance economic integration, and increase trade. Additionally, it was announced that a fifth international company, a Portuguese firm, has entered the bid for the design of the Gulf railway project, joining previously submitted proposals from French, Turkish, Spanish, and Chinese companies.
