Nepalese Ambassador to Kuwait, Ghana Shyam Lamsal, has reported several achievements since taking office 10 months ago. These include the return of 759 domestic workers, the approval of approximately 87,000 work visa applications, the renewal or issuance of over 13,000 passports, and the transfer of KD185,000 in compensation to Nepal. In a recent telephone interview, Lamsal shared that he had met with representatives of the Nepalese community in Kuwait, during which he highlighted the embassy’s accomplishments. He also noted that 63 Nepalese nationals had died in Kuwait and Iraq, and their remains had been repatriated to Nepal. Additionally, the embassy facilitated the return of 16 ill workers to Nepal, while four others are receiving treatment in Kuwait. During the meeting with the community, Lamsal discussed areas for improvement, such as upgrading the embassy’s facilities, addressing issues related to domestic workers’ employment and treatment, and enhancing public awareness on traffic safety and social media. He assured attendees that their suggestions would be considered to further improve the embassy’s services and operations.
