Expat Arrested Attempting to Steal from ATM in Raqqa

Detectives thwarted an attempted ATM robbery near the Raqqa Cooperative, arresting an expatriate found in possession of tools for the crime. A security source confirmed that Major General Hamed Al-Dawas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Criminal Security Affairs, maintained close communication with Raqqa detectives throughout the operation until the suspect was apprehended.

According to the source, the Raqqa detectives received a tip-off about the expatriate’s plan to rob the ATM on Saturday night. In response, a team was assembled to monitor the situation. When the suspect arrived with the tools and began trying to break into the machine, he was quickly arrested.

The source added that the strategic plan devised by the Raqqa detectives to catch the suspect in the act prevented significant damage to the ATM. The suspect later admitted that he intended to steal money to fund his drug addiction, which he had been battling for some time.
