Director General and Advisor to the Union of Domestic Workers Recruitment Office Owners, Abdulaziz Al-Ali, announced that he and a delegation from the Kuwait Union of Domestic Labor Offices (KUDLO), led by Chairman Khalid Al-Dakhnan, visited Labor Attaché Manuel Dimaano at the Philippine Embassy on Sunday. During the meeting, they discussed the latest updates on the approval process for Kuwaiti recruitment offices and the issuance of job orders for recruiting Filipino domestic workers in offices that have yet to receive approval. In a press statement, Al-Ali emphasized that Dimaano fully understands the urgency expressed by recruitment office owners regarding the timely issuance of job orders.
Dimaano shared that Philippine Secretary of Migrant Workers Hans Leo Cacdac has issued guidelines to the Labor Attaché’s office and relevant departments. He explained that these guidelines aim to ensure coordination and integration between the Labor Attaché’s office and the Department of Migrant Workers in addressing complaints received from domestic workers or their families in the Philippines. He added that the Labor Attaché’s office has instructed all embassy staff to collect feedback and complaints related to obstacles in obtaining job orders.
He noted that the delay in issuing job orders is due to “various organizational steps needed to address the challenges” in the process. Dimaano expressed his commitment to streamlining the issuance process and resolving the issues faced by recruitment offices and companies.
Meanwhile, Al-Dakhnan expressed gratitude to Dimaano for his openness and willingness to listen to the concerns of recruitment offices, stating, “He has given us the opportunity to explain the challenges we are encountering.” He assured that Dimaano’s office is accessible for presenting comments and suggestions to resolve labor issues impacting recruitment.
Al-Ali added that all concerns were communicated to Dimaano, highlighting pressures from both government agencies and Kuwaiti families, aimed at expediting the recruitment of Filipino domestic workers.
Dimaano affirmed his neutrality and commitment to collaborating with KUDLO to address these challenges, pledging to make every effort in this regard. When asked about the suspension of the Domestic Labor Visa (Article 20), Al-Dakhnan confirmed that the union will work with relevant parties in Kuwait to resolve this issue, as Kuwaiti companies and institutions need Filipino domestic workers. He also mentioned that the union will continue to tackle the difficulties faced by recruitment offices and will hold ongoing meetings with concerned stakeholders both within and outside Kuwait.
