With the new academic year approaching, Kuwait International Airport has been experiencing a surge in travelers returning from summer vacations abroad, particularly from various Arab and international capitals. Agencies operating at the airport are intensifying their efforts to manage the flow of both departing and arriving passengers.
Estimates indicate that around 4.2 million passengers traveled through Kuwait International Airport during June, July, and August. Yesterday alone, the airport saw approximately 174 flights arriving from different Arab and international capitals. Egypt was the top destination with 20 flights, followed by Saudi Arabia with 19, Dubai with 16, and Turkey with 11.
A source from Kuwait International Airport noted that operational teams and relevant agencies are working diligently to ensure smooth passenger movement. Their efforts are concentrated on easing the flow through passport control and guiding passengers to transit and customs areas for luggage retrieval. Although the summer travel season extends until the end of October, there is a noticeable increase in returnees due to the upcoming school year and the return of students and teachers.
The successful management of passenger traffic this summer is largely attributed to the availability of multiple airport terminals, which has helped alleviate congestion. The source also mentioned that the airport’s work plan focuses on enhancing performance in both operational and support areas, aiming to improve service efficiency to accommodate the growing number of passengers. This includes deploying additional teams to streamline movement, preparing arrival and departure halls, and operating extra counters during peak times.
