Kuwait sees an increase in visit visas under new expat guidelines

Kuwait has seen a significant increase in visitors from various nationalities over the past four months, following new guidelines from the Ministry of Interior. Streamlined procedures have led to an average of 8,700 visit visas issued per week, including family, tourism, and commercial visas.

Brigadier Mazid Al-Mutairi, Assistant Director General of the General Administration for Residency Affairs, reported weekly averages of 2,000 business visit visas, 2,900 family visit visas, and 3,800 tourist visit visas. The decision to open all types of visit visas was directed by Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, with specific rules and regulations in place for sponsors and visitors.

Most visa holders have complied with the duration of their visits, showing respect for Kuwait’s laws and resulting in a low percentage of violations. The Residence Affairs Investigations Department takes steps to address non-compliance, including notifications and potential penalties for sponsors.

Visit visas are granted within 15 to 30 minutes if the application meets conditions. Sponsors can visit the Residence Affairs Department based on their residential address to avoid complications.

The top seven nationalities entering Kuwait are Americans, British, Turks, Jordanians, Egyptians, Indians, and Syrians. While Kuwait remains open to visitors, strict measures ensure compliance and accountability for both sponsors and visitors.
