Marzouq Al-Azmi, the Deputy Director of the Fisheries Sector at the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, announced that the fish market received 376 baskets of ‘Umm Na’ira’ shrimp yesterday, with prices ranging from 40 to 55 dinars per basket. Additionally, 188 baskets of ‘Shahamiya’ shrimp were delivered, priced between 25 to 30 dinars per basket.
In a statement to Al-Rai, Al-Azmi mentioned that the price of a kilogram of shrimp has decreased to two dinars this week, down from 3.5 dinars the previous week. He attributed the anticipated increase in shrimp quantities in the coming days to the Public Authority for Agriculture’s initiatives, including the issuance of necessary licenses, monitoring of territorial waters, and enforcement against violators, all aimed at conserving fish stocks. These efforts have been effective since the opening of shrimp fishing on August 1.
