Kuwait to Open New Shelter for Male Expatriate Workers by Year-End

The Public Authority for Manpower is set to open a new shelter for male expatriate workers in the last quarter of this year, modeled after the existing facility for women.

Aseel Al-Mazid, Director of the Public Relations and Media Department and spokesperson for the Public Authority for Manpower, announced that the new shelter will be fully integrated and similar to the women’s center. Speaking to Al-Akhbar channel during a World Humanitarian Day event at the Expatriate Workers Shelter Center, Al-Mazid noted that the current female expatriate workers’ shelter, established in 2014, is the first of its kind in the Gulf and Middle East. It has a capacity of 500 residents and recently added an immediate entry service. Women can access the center through voluntary entry or referrals from embassies or public benefit organizations. The center offers shelter, meals, and recreational and psychological support. Currently, it houses 102 women and 10 children, with the number of residents varying as individuals enter and leave the facility.
