Minister of Commerce and Industry, Omar Al-Omar, has issued a decision to form a team led by the Assistant Undersecretary for Companies and Commercial Licenses Affairs. The team includes the Chairman of the Anti-Money Laundering and Financing Terrorism Department, the Director of the Commercial Monitoring Department, the Director of the License Monitoring Department, and a commercial inspector.
The team’s mission is to oversee private pharmacies and drug companies to regulate the prices of medicines, including those for diabetes and cardiology, as well as certain creams, which have recently seen price increases of approximately 85 percent. The team will also review communications between the companies, pharmacies, and the Ministry of Health. Additionally, they will inspect pharmacies and drug companies to identify violations in coordination with relevant institutions such as Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Health, the Public Authority for Manpower, the Central Bank of Kuwait, and the Ministry of Interior.
