A Gulf security personnel was recently detained at Salmi police station after attempting to leave the country illegally. He is currently awaiting referral to the Public Prosecution. Employed by the Ministry of Interior, he has also been referred to the Criminal Department on suspicion of being in an altered state.
According to a security source, officers at the last checkpoint in Salmi Port apprehended him just before he could exit the country. It was found that he had cleared customs and passport checks despite having a travel ban against him.
During the initial investigation, the security personnel admitted he was trying to flee to his home country due to ongoing legal cases. The source also noted that authorities are looking into how he was able to clear customs and passport checks, particularly whether someone assisted his illegal departure by stamping his passport.
