Since the Ministry of Interior declared an amnesty period, 1,807 foreign nationals who had violated their residency status have left Kuwait, while 4,565 expatriates have corrected their residency status. Most of them were residents under Article 20 and Article 18, though some people with visitation visas also used the amnesty program to exit the nation. In order to exit the country, 2,801 foreign nationals who had lost their passports or were in the custody of their sponsors reportedly obtained travel documents from their embassies.
