Two individuals were arrested while tampering with vehicle odometers at a garage in Al-Rai.

The General Traffic Department of the Ministry of Interior has arrested two individuals for tampering with the odometers of used vehicles at a car repair shop in the Al-Rai area. The arrests were made on Thursday, August 29, 2024, following an investigation by the Workshop Monitoring Section of the Technical Inspection Department, which identified the garage engaging in illegal activities.

A detailed technical report was prepared by the International Standards Department, documenting all relevant information, including the location of the garage and the identities of those involved.

The General Department of Criminal Investigations – Department of Combating Counterfeiting and Forgery Crimes was then contacted to execute the arrests. The authorities apprehended the two individuals at the scene and confiscated all devices used for tampering with odometers. The suspects were handed over to the Department of Combating Counterfeiting and Forgery Crimes, and the Ministry of Commerce has since shut down the garage.
