Positive Trends in Traffic Safety
Major General Ali Al-Adwani, the acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Traffic Council, confirmed that traffic accidents have noticeably declined in Kuwait. He also noted an increase in drivers’ commitment to wearing seatbelts and a drop in serious violations, like using a mobile phone while driving.
Al-Adwani made these remarks while chairing the 25th meeting of the Supreme Traffic Council. The meeting was attended by the Head of the Traffic and Operations Sector, Brigadier Abdullah Al-Atiqi, and representatives from Kuwait Municipality, Kuwait University, and the Ministries of Education, Information, and Public Works.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with various security sectors, is intensifying its efforts to implement a comprehensive traffic plan. According to him, the plan is designed to keep road users safe, improve community security, and strengthen Kuwait’s leading role in traffic management.
Al-Adwani started the meeting by conveying greetings from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, who wished the council success in its mission to improve the traffic system and protect road users.
The council reviewed statistics that showed fewer accidents, more people wearing seatbelts, less mobile phone use while driving, and stricter enforcement against serious violations.
The council also discussed preparations for the new academic year at universities, institutes, colleges, and schools. The goal is to ensure smooth traffic flow on major roads and highways so that students and faculty can easily get to their educational institutions.
