Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has introduced new penalties for vehicles that violate road safety and environmental standards, effective from April 22, 2025. Under the new regulations, vehicles that emit excessive noise, thick smoke, or unpleasant odors, as well as those carrying hazardous or flammable materials that may scatter or leak onto the road, will face strict penalties. Additionally, vehicles deemed unsafe due to accidents affecting their balance, tires, or overall roadworthiness will also be subject to fines.
Offenders can settle the violation with a fine of 75 KWD. However, cases referred to the court may result in harsher penalties, including a prison sentence of up to three months and fines ranging from 150 KWD to 300 KWD, or both. The Ministry of Interior urges all motorists to adhere to these regulations to ensure road safety and environmental protection.
