The WAMD instant payment service has delivered an exceptional performance through the first three quarters of 2025, according to the latest data from the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK).
The total transaction value processed by WAMD reached a staggering KD 6.063 billion over the nine-month period. This massive volume was generated across approximately 80,200 transactions, with an average transaction size of KD 76.
Highlighting Quarterly Momentum
The robust results show accelerating quarterly growth throughout the year:
- Q3 2025: Transactions rose by 19.1% to KD 2.414 billion.
- Q2 2025: The value jumped by a significant 24.8% to KD 2.026 billion.
- Q1 2025: Growth stood at 47.3%, bringing the total to KD 1.623 billion (up from KD 1.101 billion in Q4 2024).
CBK’s Perspective:
This remarkable success demonstrates the escalating adoption of WAMD by both consumers and businesses, solidifying its position as a primary method for digital payments in Kuwait. The Central Bank attributes this growth to the service’s core benefits—speed, flexibility, and security—all of which align perfectly with Kuwait’s overarching strategy to upgrade its digital financial infrastructure and promote cashless transactions.
