Kuwait Drops to -3°C with Arctic ChillFrost Risk in the Desert Until Thursday
The Meteorology Department has predicted that cold weather will continue, with daytime temperatures remaining chilly and nighttime temperatures dropping to very cold levels. Frost is expected in agricultural and desert areas until Thursday.
Dharar Al-Ali, Director of the Meteorology Department, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the country will remain under the influence of a high-pressure system, bringing cold and dry air. This system is reinforced by significant cooling in the upper atmosphere, along with light to moderate northwesterly winds.
Al-Ali reported that weather stations recorded temperatures as low as -3°C at the Salmi station, -2°C at Abdali, and -6°C at Kuwait International Airport. Given these low temperatures, the cold weather is expected to persist, with frost likely in some areas until Thursday.
However, Al-Ali mentioned that the effect of the high-pressure system will begin to weaken starting Friday evening, allowing a low-pressure system to move in. This shift will bring southeasterly winds and warmer daytime temperatures, along with a chance of light, scattered rain in some areas starting Friday evening.
