97,622 Individuals Aged 60 and Above Do Not Hold a University Degree
Following the Court of Appeal’s decision in March to uphold the ruling of the Court of First Instance, which canceled Administrative Decision No. 27/2021 regarding the rules and procedures for issuing work permits, it is expected that health insurance fees for expatriates aged 60 and above, who do not hold a university degree, will be waived. According to the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), as of mid-2024, there are 97,622 expatriates in this category.
The Arab Times has obtained PACI’s statistics, which show that the number of expatriates with a university degree is 143,488, while 6,561 hold postgraduate degrees (Master’s and PhD). Additionally, 82,258 expatriates are illiterate, 175,672 hold elementary certificates, and 632,017 have completed intermediate-level education. The statistics also reveal that 795,349 expatriates have unspecified educational qualifications, while 248,697 hold high school certificates, and 79,902 have diplomas. The total number of expatriates in the country stands at 3,358,654.
