Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah inaugurated the Mikshat project at its new location on the northern island of the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Causeway. Inspired by the Kuwaiti tradition of ‘kashta,’ or enjoying picnics in the open desert, Mikshat is a unique cultural and entertainment initiative first launched by the ministry in 2023.
This year’s edition features several improvements, including over 30 food kiosks and establishments, an expanded traditional café area, and enhanced public facilities to better serve visitors. Minister Al-Huwailah announced that the project aims to attract approximately 200,000 visitors.
Past Mikshat editions offered various activities such as renting camps for the full kashta experience, attending folklore performances, dining at different restaurants and cafes, and shopping for locally made products. This year, Mikshat will also feature a children’s playground and a small zoo, providing a fun and safe environment for families to take photos.
Entry will be free for children under the age of four. Mikshat will operate weekdays from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends from 3 p.m. to midnight. Visitors can book tickets through the Mikshat website, which will launch soon, and via the (Eventat) app.
