Remittances from Filipino workers in Kuwait experienced a modest increase in the first nine months of 2024, totaling $432.67 million. This marks a slight rise of $27,000, or 0.11 percent, compared to the $432.2 million recorded during the same period in 2023. In contrast, remittances from all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries saw a more significant year-on-year growth of 5.12 percent, reaching around $4.25 billion, up from $4.04 billion in 2023. These contributions accounted for 96.46 percent of the total remittances from Filipino workers in the Middle East, which amounted to $4.40 billion. Among GCC nations, the UAE led the growth with a 6.71 percent increase, followed by Saudi Arabia at 6.39 percent. Kuwait’s growth was the smallest, at just 0.11 percent. Saudi Arabia was the largest source of remittances, contributing $1.56 billion, while Bahrain recorded the lowest at $194.79 million.
