KUWAIT CITY, Jan 6: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has dismissed viral social media claims suggesting a new residency law grants exemptions from residency fees. Officials clarified that these reports are false and do not reflect any official policy.
Addressing a widely circulated audio clip, the Ministry confirmed that all standard residency procedures and fee collections remain in full effect under current regulations. The MoI highlighted that the only valid exemption is for health insurance fees, which applies specifically to the first three domestic workers sponsored by Kuwaiti families (per Ministry of Health guidelines). No such waiver exists for residency charges. The public is urged to verify information through official government channels before sharing.
