Health Insurance Fees for Expats Aged 60+ Without Degrees Expected to Be Abolished
The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) has revealed that as of June, there are 2,899,191 expatriates in Kuwait without university degrees. This figure encompasses various educational levels and highlights the demographics of the country’s expatriate workforce. This announcement comes alongside expectations to abolish health insurance fees for expatriates aged 60 and above who do not hold university degrees. The change follows a Court of Appeal ruling in March, which upheld the decision by the Court of First Instance to annul Administrative Decision No. 27 of 2021 regarding work permit regulations.
According to statistics from Al-Seyassah / Arab Times, the number of expatriates with university degrees has dropped to 143,488, including 6,561 with postgraduate qualifications (Master’s and PhDs). In comparison, the data also shows that 82,040 workers are classified as illiterate.
