The Ministry of Health has updated the executive regulations for Law No. 31 of 2008, which requires medical tests for individuals planning to marry in Kuwait. This will take effect starting April 1st.
The initiative aims to improve the quality of healthcare, protect public health, and reduce the spread of genetic and infectious diseases in the community.
Key changes in the updated regulations include the following: Broadened Scope of Medical Examinations –
Medical exams will now be required for all marriage contracts in Kuwait, regardless of the nationalities of the individuals involved. This includes marriages between two Kuwaitis, a Kuwaiti and a non-Kuwaiti, or two non-Kuwaitis.
To simplify the process, a digital application will be used to assist with certain procedures related to premarital health tests.
