The authorities have arrested a network involved in the raffle draw scandal, in which the main suspect, an Egyptian woman, and her husband won 7 vehicles across various raffles since 2023.
The primary suspect, Fatima Gamal Saad Diab, an Egyptian expatriate employed at the Al-Najat Charity Committee, and her husband, Muhammad Abdul Salam Muhammad Al-Gharabli, an employee at Bab Al-Kuwait Press Company, were arrested on Sunday evening at Kuwait International Airport while attempting to flee the country. Additionally, the Head of the Raffle Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has also been detained.
Reports suggest that the fraudulent activities began in 2023, and the network may involve additional individuals, including Indians, Asians, Egyptians, and local citizens. Seven vehicles have been awarded so far.
The case involves several charges against the defendants, including fraud, forgery, money laundering, and damaging Kuwait’s economic system. The Public Prosecution is leading the investigation as the responsible authority in this case.
