130,000 expatriates expelled from Kuwait in four years

The Director of the Deportation Department, Brigadier Jassim Al-Misbah, stated that around 130,000 expatriates have been deported over the last four years. During a visit to the old deportation facility (Talha) in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, he announced that detainees would be immediately moved to a new juvenile building, which will be completed in four phases. The first phase, intended for men, is nearly finished, with 90 percent of the building ready.

This new facility can house up to 1,000 detainees and has been designed to meet required specifications, with a total capacity exceeding 1,400, compared to approximately 900 in the previous facility. Al-Misbah noted that deportees are allowed to contact their families through landlines, and if an international call is necessary, a prison phone is made available. Additionally, detainees can meet with their embassy representatives in a designated office.

Regarding airport procedures for deportees, he explained that they previously used the same gates as regular passengers. However, in cooperation with airport authorities, a separate gate has now been established to ensure proper procedures are followed, allowing deportees to board without mingling with other passengers. The women’s section will remain unchanged for the time being, with plans for their transfer within the next two months.
