Examining Academic Credentials for Kuwaiti and Expat Public Sector Staff: CSC Orders

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is now checking the academic certificates of government employees in Kuwait. This follows a directive from HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. The CSC is examining certificates from 2000 onwards, for both Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates. All government agencies and public institutions have been told to submit their employees’ academic certificates and equivalencies for review.

The process begins with certificates obtained outside Kuwait. If a certificate doesn’t have an equivalency recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, steps will be taken to validate it. Certificates obtained within Kuwait will be examined later. The aim is to verify the authenticity of all certificates, a process that requires time and effort.

The government has been combating fake certificates for years, suspending suspicious universities and taking legal action when necessary. The examination process has been ongoing since 2018, with measures like Kuwaitization of equivalency management and the establishment of a verification system for issued equivalencies. Despite challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, efforts to ensure the validity of academic credentials continue.
