Kuwait advises vigilance due to increase in online fraud schemes

The Ministry of Commerce has issued a strong warning to the public about the rising incidents of fraud and scams taking place via WhatsApp, suspicious emails, and unreliable websites, according to Al-Seyassah daily. The Ministry noted a recent increase in fraudulent activities, where scammers utilize unregistered numbers, fake companies, and questionable online platforms to trick consumers.

They urged citizens and residents to be vigilant and avoid sharing personal or banking information through text messages or WhatsApp with unverified contacts. The Ministry advised against clicking on links from unknown numbers or unfamiliar sources and stressed the importance of verifying the legitimacy of companies before engaging with them. Consumers were reminded to ensure that businesses are registered and approved by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry before completing any transactions.

Additionally, the Ministry cautioned against being swayed by offers that appear too good to be true, as scammers often use these enticing deals to attract unsuspecting victims. They called for heightened awareness and vigilance, urging everyone to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from falling prey to these scams.
