The PM Takes Oath as Deputy Amir

HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is away overseas, so on Monday, Prime Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah took the oath in the National Assembly to assume the role of Deputy Amir.

HH the Prime Minister promised to uphold the nation’s independence and territorial integrity, protect the rights, interests, and resources of the Kuwaiti people, and remain obedient to HH the Amir. The swearing-in of HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad as Deputy Amir, according to Speaker of the National Assembly Ahmad Al-Saadoun, set a new record in the annals of the nation.

An Amiri decree states that the historic action will stand until HH the Amir names a crown prince. According to the constitution, HH the Amir has one year starting on December 20, 2023, when he took the oath of office to become the ruler of Kuwait, to name a crown prince. On Tuesday, HH the Amir begins a state visit to Saudi Arabia.

In the meantime, 36 Members of Parliament on Sunday urged the government to request that the International Human Rights Commission call an urgent meeting to address Zionist abuses of human rights in the Gaza Strip, where Zionist atrocities have killed over 26,000 civilians in the last four months.

In a statement, the lawmakers demanded that the foreign ministry ask the IHRC to establish an international committee to look into the crimes against humanity that the Zionist organization had committed against Palestinian civilians. Since the beginning of the year, Kuwait has belonged to the IHRC.
