MoI Cracks Down; Increase in Deportations of Visit Visa Violators from Kuwait

The Ministry of Interior has referred a Jordanian expatriate and his family for deportation for breaching visit visa conditions. According to a press statement issued by the ministry, this action is based on a decision taken last month to deport visit visa violators and their sponsors. The Jordanian expatriate had brought his wife and children to Kuwait on family visit visas, but they stayed beyond the allowed visit period, violating the visit visa conditions and the pledge the sponsor signed when applying for the family visit visa. Consequently, legal measures were taken for the deportation of the sponsor and his visiting family, even though his residency is still valid.

The Ministry of Interior affirmed its commitment to taking necessary legal measures against those who do not comply with the law. It emphasized its determination to hold violators accountable, including both sponsors and their sponsored individuals. The ministry stressed that all visitors must adhere strictly to the specified time limit for their visit and leave the country upon the expiry of their visit visa to avoid facing legal consequences.

Last month, several visit visa holders, along with their sponsors, were referred for deportation for exceeding their legal stay in the country. The Ministry of Interior revealed that a group of women residing in the country had obtained visit visas for their husbands and children, who then entered Kuwait. However, these visitors exceeded their legal stay period. This was discovered by the General Department of Residency Affairs Investigations’ Department of Violators Follow-up and other concerned authorities after monitoring these cases. Consequently, legal actions were initiated in preparation for the deportation of the sponsors – the women – and the sponsored – their husbands and children – for failing to abide by the pledge signed when applying for the family visit visa and for violating the relevant conditions. The ministry stated that this decision was based on directives issued by His Excellency the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah.
