500,000 students set to return for the new school year

Tuesday, September 17, marks the start of the 2024/2025 academic year, with over 500,000 students returning to school. Specifically, 504,559 students will head back to their classrooms, including 419,208 in public schools and 85,351 in private Arab schools.

The school year will commence on Tuesday for first-grade students, with about 26,000 of the 178,039 elementary students beginning their classes. While students in elementary, intermediate, and secondary schools will start on Tuesday, kindergarten students will begin their school year on Wednesday. The student distribution is as follows:
– Kindergarten: 31,033
– Intermediate stage: 159,811
– Secondary school: 122,556

Primary schools are planning special receptions for first-grade students, featuring entertainment and competitions to help ease their transition into the new educational setting.

In preparation for the academic year, a joint awareness campaign titled “With Our Determination, We Achieve Our Dream” has been launched. This campaign, a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Information, and the Government Communication Center, aims to prepare and motivate students for the new school year.

The Ministry of Interior has implemented measures to ensure student and road safety, including deploying patrols on main and secondary roads to manage traffic, especially around schools. The ministry will also enforce traffic laws and regulations. The Ministry of Education emphasizes that the campaign’s main objective is to mentally prepare students, recognize teachers’ contributions, and promote discipline both inside and outside the school to enhance academic success.

The campaign will run throughout the academic year, targeting students, parents, and teachers. It will include seminars, informational materials, and training programs. Various media and social media platforms will be used to disseminate awareness messages. The campaign also benefits from support from Kuwait Finance House (KFH), Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain), Kuwait National Cinema Company, and M2R Media Group, who are helping to spread messages that promote discipline and adherence to laws, contributing to the development of a well-informed generation.
