A 95.8% Reduction in Eye Injuries During the Kuwaiti National Holiday

The Ministry of Health revealed that during the most recent national holiday celebrations, 136 cases were treated, and 17 people—including those involved in three traffic accidents—were taken to hospitals. In comparison to last year’s celebrations, there was a notable 95.8% decrease in eye injuries this year, according to Dr. Ahmed Al-Shatti, Director of the Ministry’s Medical Emergency Department. Al-Shatti attributed this drop to a number of factors, including more people using emergency rooms and clinics, improved ambulance services, and fewer traffic accidents—which dropped from 12 to 3—due in part to the celebrations’ wet weather and a Ministry of Interior traffic awareness campaign.
