Approximately 500,000 students are returning to school after the break

Approximately half a million students across various educational levels returned to school on Tuesday, marking the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year with a sense of optimism and enthusiasm. The Ministry of Education confirmed its readiness for the new year, while police and security patrols were stationed near schools and along the routes leading to them.

Dr. Nader Al-Jalal, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, who is also serving as the acting Minister of Education, visited several schools on the first day to observe the progress of the educational process. He welcomed the students, emphasizing that “the start of the academic year is a new opportunity for success and achievement, a time to reignite aspirations and cultivate knowledge that will ultimately lead to a bright future for all our students.”

He highlighted the importance of putting in effort and making the most of available resources for exploration and learning, as students are the foundation of the future and the hope of the nation. He commended the various sectors involved in preparing for the new academic year, noting their dedication to ensuring that schools are ready to provide a safe and engaging learning environment, along with the support of educational and administrative staff.

The Minister also stressed the need for ongoing collaboration to enhance the educational environment in line with the aspirations of the country and its people.

Meanwhile, Maha Al-Mutairi, the Director of Umm Kulthum Bint Uqbah Intermediate School for Girls, shared her thoughts on the first day of school, particularly regarding the preparations made for the new year. She stated, “The administration began the academic year with the highest level of organization and readiness, ensuring quality maintenance work, including construction and electrical upgrades, as well as closely monitoring the functionality of air conditioning and lighting systems. We are committed to creating a safe and encouraging learning environment, with teachers trained in advanced educational skills to help develop students’ academic capabilities.”

She added that study plans and educational objectives were established in advance to enhance students’ academic performance and instill positive values through participation in regional and global competitions and activities that promote ambition and self-confidence. She wished all students an academic year filled with dedication, kindness, and excellence.
