CAN Hosts a Variety of Sporting Events

KUWAIT: Under the patronage of Health Minister Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi, the 9th joint Gulf Week for Cancer Awareness was held from February 1 to February 7, 2024, with the theme “We Are With You.” According to Director of Haido Sport Academy Abdullah Al-Saleh, the sports arm of Cancer Aware Nation (CAN), several sports activities took place during this time. The Kuwait Football Amateurs League, which began on November 7, 2023, and ran at Surra Yards until February 7, 2024, was the first of these events, according to him.

The Public Authority for Sport is the league’s sponsor, and Haido’s team was among the 14 teams that competed. According to Al-Saleh, CAN is proud to regularly introduce a variety of sports programs to teach young people how to make the most of their leisure time and reap the benefits of sports’ ability to positively impact lifestyles.

He claimed that youth sports are essential for preventing exposure to risk factors that lower immunity and increase the chance of illness. In addition to stimulating the release of feel-good hormones, it also helps individuals enjoy their life by lowering the smoking rates among young people.

He added that on February 2, CAN held an awareness exhibition about cancer at Surra. The exhibition’s goals included detecting the early warning symptoms of cancer and ways to avoid various cancer kinds that are linked to a healthy lifestyle that includes eating a balanced diet and engaging in physical activity.
