Chennai- India, on March 27th, defending champions Chennai Super Kings secured a commanding victory over Gujarat Titans by 63 runs in the Indian Premier League, marking their second consecutive home win.
Chennai displayed an impressive all-round performance, limiting Gujarat to 143-8 with a pace-dominated attack after setting a formidable total of 206-6.
Key player Sai Sudharsan top-scored with 37 runs off 31 balls for Gujarat, but the team struggled to build partnerships, with Chennai’s fielders taking some outstanding catches in the outfield.
Chennai’s captain, Shubman Gill, managed only eight runs before being dismissed by Deepak Chahar (2-28) in the third over of Gujarat’s innings.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who passed the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad before the tournament, contributed with a brilliant diving catch to dismiss Vijay Shankar, while Ajinkya Rahane took a stunning catch to remove David Miller.

Earlier, Ravindra’s quick-fire 46 off 20 balls and Gaikwad’s 46 provided Chennai with a strong start, putting up a partnership of 62 runs in the power play.
Shivam Dube’s aggressive half-century of 51 off 23 balls in the middle overs further boosted Chennai’s total. Despite Rashid Khan’s two wickets for Gujarat, Chennai managed to post a challenging score.
Playing his first IPL season at 20 years old, Sameer Rizvi displayed confidence by hitting two sixes off Rashid Khan as Chennai reached a competitive total.
Chennai had previously defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Gujarat secured a victory over Mumbai Indians in their respective opening matches.”
