For Spying in Women’s Restrooms, Foreign Nationals Face two-year Sentence and a Deportation

Judge Issa Al-Hazer presided over the Misdemeanor Court, which sentenced two expatriates, an Egyptian and an Indian, to two years of hard labor in prison followed by deportation upon completion of their sentence. The court also ordered the confiscation of the mobile phone. The accused had placed a camera inside a women’s restroom.

The Kuwaiti plaintiff’s legal team filed a civil complaint, claiming KD 5,001, and the court also ordered the case to be referred to the relevant civil court. A Kuwaiti woman discovered a hidden spy camera in the women’s restroom of a nearby bank in the Farwaniya Governorate, according to the case files.

She went straight to the police and complained. The accused was taken into custody, as the Ministry of Interior promptly declared. The Criminal Security Sector’s General Department for Criminal Investigations has detained an Asian and an Arab on suspicion of misusing a phone by hiding it inside a women’s restroom at a bank in Farwaniya, according to a statement released by the ministry.
