Kuwaiti authorities increase market supervision ahead of Eid Al-Adha

As Eid Al-Adha approaches, Kuwait’s markets see increased regulatory action to protect consumers from price hikes and exploitation. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, through its Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Sector, has deployed inspection teams across markets. Cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor includes workshops for inspectors to compare prices and ensure transparency, particularly in cooperative societies and fruit markets.

Recent monitoring in Jahra and Farwaniya has uncovered violations, leading to notices and legal actions against non-compliant businesses. Daily inspections continue, resulting in seized goods and penalties for violators. These efforts demonstrate a commitment to consumer protection and market transparency.

To meet the demand before Eid Al-Adha, supervisory teams are inspecting stores selling women’s items, verifying prices and documentation. These proactive steps aim to maintain consumer rights, prevent price manipulation, and promote fair trading during the festive period.
