Mbappe scores as PSG beat Nice convincingly.

Paris- Kylian Mbappe returned to PSG’s starting lineup and scored as they beat Nice 3-1 in the French Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday. Mbappe, who was only a substitute in their last match, opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Fabian Ruiz doubled PSG’s lead before Gaetan Laborde pulled one back for Nice. Lucas Beraldo’s first PSG goal secured the win.

With a ten-point lead in Ligue 1 and in the Champions League quarter-finals, PSG aims for a clean sweep of honors this season. They’ll face Rennes in the semi-finals on April 3. Mbappe’s role has been debated, but coach Luis Enrique is clear that he’ll continue to utilize him.

PSG’s rotation policy has attracted attention, but Luis Enrique isn’t bothered. He emphasizes the need for players to be ready to perform. Mbappe, wearing the captain’s armband, scored his 35th club goal of the season.

Despite Nice pulling a goal back, PSG sealed the win with Beraldo’s header. Nice, once challenging in Ligue 1, have struggled recently. PSG effectively ended any hope of a comeback with Beraldo’s goal. The match also saw Nice’s goalkeeper Bulka suffer an injury.- AFP
