New Driving Test Model Introduced in Kuwait

The Ministry of Interior has introduced a new model for conducting driving tests.

According to a report in the local Arabic daily Al-Jarida, the new model evaluates candidates across six stages: fastening the seat belt, maintaining attention while driving, correctly stopping in side parking spaces adjacent to the sidewalk, stopping at a red light, turning the vehicle in a limited space, and using manual transmission when starting and moving.

The evaluation assigns a 30 percent weight to stopping at a red light and turning in a limited space, with 10 percent for each of the other stages. Applicants must achieve at least 75 percent of the total marks to pass the test.

The Traffic Sector of the Ministry of Interior has begun implementing this new system in the driving test sections across the six governorates, using a new written form developed by the laboratory for test applicants.
