Numerous Shops in Kuwait Found Altering Prices

Faisal Al-Ansari, the Director of the Commercial Control Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), reported that 611 violations were recorded in August. Out of these, 448 were detected during inspection tours conducted by the department’s teams, making up 73 percent of the total violations. The remaining 163 violations, or 27 percent, were reported by consumers. In a press release, Al-Ansari noted that August’s statistics from the Commercial Control Department revealed 95 different types of violations across 32 categories.

These categories include:
– Violations of bans on certain goods and their circulation
– General provisions
– Recruitment of domestic workers
– Regulations for the sale and circulation of vegetables and fruits
– Regulations for the sale and circulation of meat
– After-sales service regulations
– Artificial price inflation
– Food and shop license requirements
– General conditions for traded goods and services
– Advertising data and invoice regulations
– Controls for the sale of goods and services
– Special offers and discounts
– Rules for warranties on used car parts, including installation and repair warranties

Al-Ansari highlighted that price-related violations were the most frequent in August, with 73 cases. This category included 49 instances of failing to display prices, 22 cases related to restaurant delivery pricing, and two cases of not specifying the prices and weights of bread.

Additionally, cooperative societies and central markets selling food and consumer goods did not provide the ministry with a price list at the beginning of the month. Violations related to advertising data, contracts, and invoices were the second most common, with 48 cases reported. This was followed by 57 violations related to the replacement and return of goods, 47 violations of trading and selling regulations, 41 violations concerning the retail sale of vegetables and fruits, and 39 cases of commercial fraud, among other infractions.
