Requests to Resume Visas for Filipino Domestic Workers

The Kuwait Union of Owners of Domestic Workers Recruitment Offices has urgently appealed to His Highness the Prime Minister, Dr. Sheikh Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. The plea comes in response to the challenges encountered by office owners due to the suspension of visas from key countries that supply domestic workers, including the Philippines, Indonesia, and Ethiopia.

The absence of formal agreements with these countries has resulted in significant financial losses, decreased competition, and limited recruitment options, adversely affecting both citizens and residents. The union specifically advocates for the reintroduction of Filipino domestic workers into the Kuwaiti market, citing their popularity, educational background, proficiency in English, and competence in household tasks.

Highlighting the positive impact of Filipino workers on Kuwaiti households, particularly during Ramadan, the appeal underscores the urgent need to resume issuing work permits for Filipino domestic workers. The union urges the Prime Minister to consider their request, emphasizing the vital role these workers play in alleviating the challenges faced by Kuwaiti families and residents.
