Restaurants in Mubarakiya Facing Legal Action for Weight and Meat Fraud

Inspection teams from the Department of Control, Inspection, and Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry conducted a campaign targeting restaurants in Mubarakiya Markets. Several establishments found in violation of regulations have been referred to the Commercial Prosecution.

Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department, explained that the campaign focused on the capital area, particularly Mubarakiya, one of Kuwait’s key heritage markets. He noted that multiple violations were discovered, including the sale of underweight products, misuse of state-subsidized flour, and fraudulent practices related to meat quality. The violators have been sent to the Commercial Prosecution.

Hamad Al-Mutairi, head of the joint committee team in the Department of Commercial Control and Consumer Protection, added that the team uncovered several instances of commercial fraud. These efforts aim to protect consumer rights and ensure that those who violate regulations and laws are held accountable.
